Person still missing after boat capsizes off Long Island coast

A peaceful boat trip turned perilous Saturday when the craft capsized off the Long Island coast.

One person is missing and three people were rescued following the morning mayhem, according to authorities and multiple reports.

The drama unfolded at 10:10 a.m. when a distress call reported the vessel had capsized in Reynolds Channel, near Point Lookout, according to Nassau County police.

Three of the passengers onboard were rescued and brought to local hospitals.

The search for a fourth passenger continued Saturday afternoon, police said.

A good Samaritan vessel, Brett Allie 5, notified the Coast Guard they had come upon the capsized boat, the Daily Voice reports.

Within minutes of receiving the call, Coast Guard Station Jones Beach launched two response boats who recovered one person in the water. The Brett Allie 5 scooped up two people “who were clinging to the vessel’s hull and wearing lifejackets,” the report said.
