Dozens of NYPD officers were dispatched to Washington, DC, to help provide security for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden following the deadly siege at the US Capitol.
A video posted to Twitter shows five buses of NYPD cops in DC on Monday.
“This morning, 200 of your officers begin their journey down to the U.S. Capitol, to represent the NYPD and assist with security for Wednesday’s Presidential Inauguration,” the police department tweeted.
District officials had requested 3,000 officers from around the country to provide security.
More than 25,000 National Guard members were also stationed in the nation’s capital ahead of Inauguration Day.
