Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday lauded former President Donald Trump for encouraging all Americans to get the COVID-19 vaccine in an interview this week with The Post.

When asked by a reporter during his daily City Hall press briefing how “valuable” Trump’s message on the need for everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible might be, de Blasio responded, “I think it’s really valuable.”

“I am glad he did that,” de Blasio, normally a fierce critic of the former commander-in-chief, said of Trump.

“We gotta speak to everyone, we gotta tell everyone it’s so important to get vaccinated, including folks who had doubts.”

Trump told Post columnist Michael Goodwin — in an interview published online Thursday and on the front page of Friday’s NY Post print edition — that he’s “all in favor of the vaccine.”

“It’s one of the great achievements, a true miracle, and not only for the United States. We’re saving tens of millions of lives throughout the world. We’re saving entire countries,” Trump said.

The 45th president added, “The vaccine is a great thing and people should take advantage of it.”
