British holidaymaker dead after plunging 450ft from Ibiza cliff

A man believed to be a British holidaymaker has reportedly died after plunging 450ft from a cliff in Ibiza.

The man, said to be in his 30s, was with his partner and friends at the Cala d’Hort viewing point area in Sant Josep when he fell at about 10.30pm on Thursday evening.

Agents of the Civil Guard, Sant Josep Local Police, Firefighters and Civil Protection all rushed to the scene but could not save him.

Emergency services launched a drone search last night to rescue his body, but a recovery mission was called off around 3.30am as it had become too dark to navigate the terrain, Balearic Islands news site ultimahora.e reports.

Members of the Civil Guard are said to have stayed with the body and guarded the scene overnight.

A rescue team recovered the body with the help of an aircraft when daylight broke.

The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard is said to have opened an investigation to look into the circumstances of the tragedy.

The Cala d’Hort beach resort, which is a short drive from San Jose, is a popular spot for tourists.
