ITV series Dancing on Ice is going to wrapping up sooner than expected with the grand finale brought forward to March 14. The show has been marred with a series of injuries and coronavirus, which has led various members of the celebrity line-up and the skating pros to bow out. Fans want to know more about Faye Brookes’ partner on the show and why the former Coronation Street is now performing with someone else.
Why has Faye got a new partner on Dancing on Ice?
Faye was originally paired with skating pro Hamish Gaman on Dancing on Ice but she has now got a new partner.
Hamish ended up getting injured and to prevent further damage was advised by the medical experts to pull out.
ITV confirmed the news a couple of weeks ago with a spokesperson for the broadcaster saying: “Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition.
“We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal.”
Hamish hurt his finger while he was putting on a sock and was signed off initially before being allowed to perform.
Some adjustments were made to the routine and Hamish and Faye took to the ice, wowing audiences and judges alike.
However, after a follow-up examination he was told not to continue with the show and allow his digit to heal to prevent any long-term damage.
Writing on Instagram to her 172,000 followers after Hamish’s exit was confirmed, Fay posted: “Truly heartbroken with the news that @hamishgaman has had to withdraw from @dancingonice
“This guy has been there for me from the very beginning. Taught me everything I know and I hope I did you proud brother…
“It has been an honour. You are honestly an incredible human but also an incredible friend.
“We both can’t thank the viewers at home enough for your constant support and for voting for Team #Faymish.
“Last but not least I have to Thank you Mr Gaman for supporting me no matter what! Here’s to a friendship that will go beyond the ice. Here for you always. Faye x.”
Faye was then partnered with Matt Evers with the former soap star performing a routine to Pretty Woman as part of their debut.
She wrote about her first performance with Matt last week, saying: “I Loved stepping into character last night @dancingonice. I had my Pretty woman moment. And it was everything.
“I can’t Thank @themattevers enough! You honestly were a dreamboat this week…
“We made some magic for Movie week so bring on the semi finals! #dancingonice.”
Matt was previously performing with Denise Van Outen, who also pulled out of the competition due to injury.
Faye now has her eye on the final and has been busy training with Matt, hoping putting the hours in will pay off on the ice.
According to reports, she is training five hours each day and burning up to 800 calories during her sessions in the hopes of winning the series.
Dancing on Ice continues on ITV tomorrow at 6pm
