LINE of Duty has been gripping audiences up and down the country for five series now.
But while the cast dash about solving crimes with their trademark dramatic style, many viewers are asking where the show is set and which city it is filmed in.
Where is Line of Duty set?
The BBC confirmed that the programme is actually set in an undefined British city.
Some canny viewers spotted a map of Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on the walls of the CID.
This led them to assume that the show is set in Birmingham.
On the whole the assumption is that the city is somewhere in the Midlands.
Where is Line of Duty filmed?
Series one of the show was shot in and around Birmingham.
The filming included shots of the interior of well-known pub The Queen’s Arms, a quaint grade II listed boozer in Newhall Street Birmingham.
For series two, three, four and five the cast and crew upped sticks and moved to Belfast.
The credits actually reveal that the series was filmed by BBC Northern Ireland following the move.
Despite the producers being keen to keep the city anonymous, eagle-eyed viewers who know Belfast well may have spotted some of their regular haunts cropping up in the back ground.
Will there be Line of Duty season 6?
Line of Duty season six got underway in early 2020 but production was suspended as the coronavirus outbreak spread.
A statement said: “In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much considerations @worldprods are suspending filming of #LineofDuty S6 with the support of the BBC. We will keep you updated with further developments in due course.”
In May 2020, creator Jed Mercurio gave an update to fans on The Andrew Marr Show, stating that it was “in doubt” whether Line of Duty would resume filming in 2020 or have to pick back up in 2021.
With this in mind fans have got a wait on their hands before the next series.
