Trump supporter John Lydon shouts at Susanna Reid in car-crash US election row

Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon quite literally yelled his support for Donald Trump and shouted over Susanna Reid during Good Morning Britain today.

Tensions are high across the world as people wait to hear whether Trump or former Vice President Joe Biden has been elected the President of the United States.

One person who hopes the former will come out victorious is John, who was known as Johnny Rotten in his Sex Pistols days.

On Wednesday morning, John was interviewed about his views on the election by Piers Morgan and Susanna on Good Morning Britain via video chat.

Speaking from his home in Los Angeles, the 64-year-old said that it ‘made sense’ for him to vote for Trump as he is ‘working class English’.

‘It makes complete sense to me to vote for a person who actually talks about my kind of people,’ he said.

‘Trump is not a politician. He’s never claimed to be. How unusually exceptionally wonderful is that for people like me, working class people.’

John added that he’s ‘bored’ of ‘intellectual left-wing ideas’, stating: ‘You talk twaddle. Everything you do – you just miss the point of who the general population are,’ having expressed his disdain for the Democatic party.

At this point, Susanna tried to interject, which didn’t go down well with the singer.

‘No let me finish,’ he yelled, bringing his face up close to the camera as Piers and Susanna laughed.

John then said: ‘Don’t interrupt, it’s rude!’ as Susanna said: ‘I was just going to say, what about his rudeness and obnoxiousness?’

The musician continued, describing Trump as the ‘only hope’.

Several Good Morning Britain viewers took to Twitter to express their bewilderment over John’s appearance on the morning talk show to discuss US politics, with one person saying that his views are ‘the opposite of the punk movement’.

‘Sad to see John Lydon on #gmb he’s become everything he hated but can’t see it,’ one person said.

‘Sad to see John Lydon support Trump I have to say. The opposite of the punk movement that,’ someone else added.

Another viewer used the hashtag ‘deluded’ to describe him, tweeting: ‘John Lydon talking from his house in LA saying how Trump looks after ‘working class people like ME’!’

‘Listening to John Lydon on #gmb is so depressing. He’s spouting right wing nonsense,’ another person wrote.

At the time of writing, votes for the US presidential election are still being counted.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV.
