This Morning fans furious as caller tells Holly and Phillip she’ll break lockdown to celebrate birthday at her sister’s – The Sun

THIS Morning's Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby today rounded on a caller who said they were going to break lockdown rules for their birthday.

'Emma' left viewers fuming as she declared she would ignore government instructions not to visit family at home saying she would go for lunch with her her sister – and stay the night.

Referring to one of the dishes she said she might be served, 58-year-old Phillip told her bluntly: "It’s either Covid-19 or couscous – take your pick."

His co-host Holly, 39, told Emma she wasn't allowed into the house, saying: "‘Lockdown states you can meet someone socially distanced outside."

Vanessa Feltz, also appearing on the show to give advice, warned: "The regulations say, it must be one other person, not even in their garden and definitely not in their house.

"There are rules and regulations for a reason. You know what you’re doing, you’re flouting the regulations."

The caller protested: "We don’t have underlying health conditions of any kind."

Vanessa, 58, said: "You don’t know 100 per cent if you’re a carrier, you might be the unlucky individual that ends up very ill or possibly losing their life. I can understand why you want to."

Phillip interrupted: "The thing is Emma has she got a big enough garden?" to which the caller replied: "Well, no but I am going to spend the night."

He snapped: "So it’s completely defiant in that case."

Holly asked sympathetically: "Do you feel like everyone is looking for loopholes left, right and centre? And if they’re going to do it I am going to do it, is that the problem?"

Emma replied: "If I’m walking to the shops and someone jogs past me huffing and puffing and spitting, I am at risk then, why shouldn’t I go to my sister’s?"

Phillip replied: "Nothing we say is going to change your mind because you are going, I can tell by the tone of your voice that you’re definitely going."

She told him: "I am."

With a sigh, he told her: "All we can say is stay safe and have a lovely birthday."

Emma replied: "As long as she doesn’t give me couscous we will be fine."

Phillip hit back: "Yes it’s either Covid-19 or couscous, take your pick."

One appalled viewer tweeted: "‘Emma’ phoning in to #ThisMorning to admit that she’s going to go and stay the night with her sister for her birthday is ultimate levels of stupidity. Oh… and she’s more worried about her sister having couscous than Covid-19. It beggars belief."

Another wrote: "Good grief @ Emma, who, most defiantly, will be spending the night at her sister's. Just make sure, Emma, you do NOT start banging on the NHS door when you catch COVID-19."
