Who does Meryl Streep play in The Prom?

Meryl Streep plays Dee Dee Allen, an out-of-work performer who's partner is James Corden's character.

Dee Dee is a Tony-winning actress who stars in a musical about Eleanor Roosevelt.

Meryl said in a press conference she had to take on a lot of the film's choreography.

"I'm the oldest person in the cast and I have the most dancing, which didn't make sense to me," she said.

Speaking more on this, she said: "All hell broke loose when I got to Los Angeles and they laid out for me what it was.

"I got in shape. It's a lot of stamina. Man, it was hard work, but it was really, really fun."
