Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) has been controlled and abused by evil Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) for the better part of a year in Coronation Street, and — with animosity rife between the two characters now more so than ever — a struggle ensues during tonight’s unmissable episode, and Yasmeen ends up taking drastic action as a result.
Yasmeen was left in fear of her life during the latest episode, as Geoff discovered that she’d been putting clothes in a secret holdall as a precaution — so that she’d be ready to leave him when the time came.
As a result, he emptied the contents of said holdall into a garden waste bin, and set all of her belongings on fire — forcing her to watch from the window.
Afterwards, he berated her for thinking she could leave him, and forced her to get on her knees and beg his forgiveness. As she did so, he instructed her to inform him that she wasn’t going anywhere, before he threatened her by saying he’d rather see her dead than with another man.
Having realised what her husband is truly capable of, Yasmeen was left terrified, and tonight — in a special episode devoted entirely to this particular narrative — Geoff reveals that he’s taken her phone off her and then heads out, locking her in the house in the process.
Later, Sally (Sally Dynevor) calls over the fence and invites both Yasmeen and Geoff to join she and Tim (Joe Duttine) at the re-opening of the Bistro.
Yasmeen gets ready, but — after doing so — Geoff is horrified by what she’s chosen to wear, and therefore he hands her what he deems to be a sexier dress for such an occasion.
Yasmeen feels self-conscious in the frock, but she makes a shocking discovery when in the Rovers, as she learns Geoff has agreed to pay for Sally and Tim’s wedding — something which he never told her about.
Later, back at home, Geoff reveals that he bought the dress Yasmeen is wearing for one of his several escorts.
A struggle ensues and Yasmeen grabs a wine bottle.
Afterwards, Geoff slumps to the ground.
Has Yasmeen killed Geoff?
A recent trailer previews her phoning 999 and telling the person on the other end of the call that she’s just killed her husband.
