It’s almost time for EastEnders to return to screens, and — ahead of its return — the BBC One soap has revealed that one character won’t be coming back.
The serial drama has been posting little status updates on social media, which detail what particular characters have got up to during lockdown.
One of yesterday’s Instagram Story offerings (August 27) centred on Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), and revealed that she had taken baby Cherry back to stay with her mum Hayley (Katie Jarvis) ahead of lockdown.
This seemingly means that — when the soap returns to screens on September 7 — Cherry will no longer feature on screens.
Viewers will remember that the Slater clan rallied round Hayley in 2018 when she arrived on the Square, and aided her as she gave birth to Cherry.
It was later revealed that Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) was Cherry’s dad — a revelation which exploded over the festive season of the year in question.
After Hayley’s departure, Kat and Jean (Gillian Wright) decided to raise Cherry themselves, and Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) has proven incredibly helpful too.
Kat made a swift departure several months back, but actress Jessie has seemingly already returned to filming, which means that her iconic character will be back on screens as soon as the soap resumes on September 7.
EastEnders returns Monday, September 7 at 8:05pm on BBC One.
