James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) might be Hollyoaks’ resident go-to solicitor — sorry, Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) — but he’s seemingly set to join forces with the force of nature that is Verity Hutchison (Eva O’Hara) — in addition to former rival Sami — as part of a thrilling new storyline.
James was taken aback by Verity’s take-no-prisoner’s demeanour last time she was in the village, and the dynamic between the two was certainly something special.
In the coming episodes, Verity returns — interrupting brother Tony’s (Nick Pickard) romantic time with wife Diane (Alex Fletcher) in the process.
Tony invites his sister to stay, but she makes sure he understands that this isn’t a flying visit, as she’s planning on sticking around.
Before long, she comes face-to-face with James and delivers a big proposition, as she suggests they go into business together.
Sam is taken aback when he realises Verity is back, and he asks her out fo a drink, but she makes clear that she’s too busy.
The lovesick solicitor isn’t giving up that easily — especially when he learns of her and James’ joint venture — and therefore he enquires if he can join their new firm as a third partner.
Verity gives it some thought, and then sets him the challenge of locating them a potential premises to get started — informing him that if he succeeds in doing so, then she’ll consider his proposal.
Later, Verity sets her sights on Donovan’s salon, and makes Grace (Tamara Wall) an offer, but the final decision of whether or not they can have the premises remains in Courtney’s (Amy Conachan) hands.
After the tough year James has had, this new venture could be exactly what he needs in order to move on.
Will this partnership thrive?
Or will it crash and burn?
Only time will tell!
