Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) faces more abuse from Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) in EastEnders, and she’s left in fear of her life as a result.
When The BBC One soap returns to screens on Monday (September 7), it will find the residents of Albert Square in a post-lockdown world.
While everyone will have found lockdown difficult, Chantelle will have undoubtedly suffered significantly, as she’s spent months trapped with controlling abuser Gray.
Therefore, she decides enough is enough, and seeks out the best divorce lawyer going — that is, until she realises how much money the process will cost.
She turns to Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) for help, and brand new footage — which was shown during tonight’s edition of Secrets From The Square (September 7) — previews what’s ahead.
Kheerat seems concerned for Chantelle, while Gray becomes more and more controlling — and adds a tracker to her phone.
Another scene sees Gray enquiring about the location of her engagement ring — has he worked out her plan?
Later, Chantelle —incredibly emotional — sits in a bath tub, evidently fearing what her husband is capable of.
How far will he go to keep her by his side?
EastEnders returns Monday September 7 at 8.05pm on BBC One.
