Spoilers: Corrie passion for Daniel and Nicky but his shock comment ruins it

The complicated relationship between Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and sex worker Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) in Coronation Street could become more serious as the pair decide that they want something more than friendship.

But a combination of Daniel’s shame, Nicky’s pride and several disapproving residents looks set to be a stumbling block – are they over before they have even started? Or will they fight the odds and make a real go of things?

Daniel insists to Kirk and Adam that Nicky is just a friend. But neither are convinced. Daniel’s pleased when Nicky turns up at his flat with sandwiches for their lunch and tells Daniel there’s a job going at her aunt’s B&B in Lytham if she could only clear her enormous debts. Thanking Daniel for helping her to dream again, Nicky leans in closer will Daniel be able to resist?

Daniel bids farewell to a smitten Nicky outside the tram stop. As he turns to leave, Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) approaches and reveals Beth Tinker (Lisa George) is inconsolable with worry about Bertie. Daniel promises Kirk he has no intention of replacing Sinead with a meaningless sex worker.

But has Nicky overheard his out of context and crass comments?

Adam’s (Sam Robertson) horrified to learn that Daniel slept with Nicky and strongly advises him to steer clear of her. Daniel refuses to listen and asks Nicky if they can have a proper relationship and suggests he could help her to quit escorting.

Daniel is determined to help Nicky but Adam is not convinced with Daniel’s plan to rescue her from a life of vice. But does Nicky want to be ‘saved’? Or is Daniel overstepping the mark.

Later, after snatching some money from rampant prostitute user Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), Daniel presents Nicky with a wad of cash.

But how will she respond? Is Daniel just taking her on as a project to try and save her? Or will this result in romance?
