DC and Marvel have been duking it out on the big screen like never before over the past decade. Now the comicbook titans are going head to head in the biggest confrontation of all. Both franchises will be bringing back multiple versions of one of their most iconic characters, alongside the currents star, in the same film. The DCEU is reported to be bringing back multiple Batman stars while Marvel will answer with at least three Spider-Man actors.
Both franchises are currently introducing the concept of multiple dimensions. The DCEU has already established The Joker movie exists in its own universe as does the new Batman reboot with Robert Pattinson.
However, the main Justice League universe is set to follow that with the upcoming Flash solo movie reported to be exploring the Speed force unlocking numerous dimensions.
This will allow Michael Keaton and Christian Bale’s incarnations of Batman to share the screen with Ben Affleck.
Spider-Man is set to follow suit in the Sony Spider-verse.
The studio already explored the concept with the hugely successful Oscar-winning animation Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse.
This was based around the Miles Morales verse of the web-slinger but also brought in numerous Spideys from other dimensions.
Now the live-action Tom Holland Peter Parker movies are set to explore the mind-bending possibilities.
Jamie Foxx had just been confirmed to return as Electro, which immediately pointed to the multiverse, since this character existed in the Garfield Spider-Man films – but then the actor posted a quickly deleted image.
Foxx posted a shot of three Spider-Man incarnations facing down a huge threat together. It was almost immediately taken down but the news spread like wildfire.
Hollywood site FandomWire said: “Fan-favorite Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are in talks to appear in the untitled Spider-Man 3 movie! Sony and Marvel are still finalizing a version of the script that features all three Spider-Men tackling many of their villains from the past, as well as new ones.”
Hollywood commentator Grace Randolph broke more exciting updates this week.
Spider-Man: Andrew Garfield ‘SIGNED ON’ to cameo in future MCU movie (RUMOUR)
Spider-Man 3: Marvel fans LOVE this Venom theory from Sam Raimi sequel (THEORY)
Spider-Man 3: Tom Holland speaks out on ‘INSANE’ movie, MCU future (REPORT)
Randolph, creator of Beyond The trailer, said: “I’m hearing Tobey Maguire doesn’t want more money… turns out he wants more SCREEN TIME out of the suit, so he can really act in the film instead of swinging through it!
“And one idea is all the Spideys swing into Times Square.”
Absolutely nothing is confirmed as yet, but the idea of three iconic web-slingers flying across the screen together is undeniably irresistible.
