'Shark Tank': What Mark Cuban Told Ellen DeGeneres Is the 'Best Part of the Show'

Mark Cuban recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, sharing some financial tips and Shark Tank experiences. The NBA team owner explained what he loves most about being on the hit ABC series.

‘Shark Tank’ has made an impact on all ages

The billionaire talked about the positive effect Shark Tank has had during its 12-season run. The reality show has been a major inspiration to millions of viewers, including a younger demographic.

“The best part of the show is that every day, kids come up to me, or parents come up to me and say, ‘My kid started a business because we’ve been watching Shark Tank,’” Cuban told DeGeneres. “‘That really got them excited to be an entrepreneur.’”

Cuban pointed out that anyone can be a contender in the Tank, regardless of age, geography, or personal situation. Shark Tank has leveled the playing field for budding entrepreneurs.

“You know, the people that come on the show can be from anywhere, any circumstances,” the tech guru said. “Some small town and they started in the garage, made it to Shark Tank, and then made it big. It’s really exciting to be a part of that.”

‘Shark Tank’ makes being an entrepreneur ‘cool’

The Shark Tank star’s conversation with DeGeneres isn’t the first time he’s mentioned the show’s impact on kids. In a 2015 interview, he gave the younger generation’s enthusiasm for the TV program as a main selling point of remaining on the panel.

“The reason I do it is, here I am on Laguna Beach, on vacation and a couple of people want to come up with their 10-year-old, and I know they don’t want to talk basketball,” Cuban said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “They’re so proud of the fact that as a family, they can watch a show together that gets their kids excited about business.”

Shark Tank has brought a certain street cred to becoming a captain of industry, especially for kids.

“They all say the same thing, ‘You guys make kids excited about being an entrepreneur,’” Cuban remarked. “‘You guys make being an entrepreneur cool.’”

Mark Cuban strives to inspire his own kids

Cuban and his wife, Tiffany, have three children together. The Shark Tank panelist is trying to teach them early on to have a strong work ethic.

“I’m not the dad that comes home with a ton of presents,” Cuban said, according to Business Insider. “I am the dad that says, ‘Pick that up. Take that; put it in the sink. No, you have to earn that.’”

As Cuban inspires other kids every Friday night on Shark Tank, he strives to motivate his own children on the home front to make their own way.

“I want them to recognize that the only thing special about themselves is what they make for themselves,” he said. “They have to be themselves — They can’t be Mark Cuban’s or Tiffany Cuban’s son or daughter. They have to be adults and they have to carry their own weight.”

Shark Tank airs on Friday nights on ABC.
