Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt admitted she practiced staying in the dark in preparation for her involvement on Scared of the Dark.

During the final instalment of the Channel 4 reality show on Thursday (April 20), viewers watched the final seven contestants battle it out to be crowned of the five-part series.

As the group excited prepared for the final challenge, former Love Island star Chloe Burrows asked the group if they had practiced spending time in the dark before they started filming.

It was at this point that the mum-to-be confessed she had spent the last few weeks practicing being in the dark for extended periods of time in the build-up to the programme.

Chloe asked: "Did you guys do anything to prepare for this, like start going in the dark a bit?"

Scarlett admitted: "Yeah I did actually, just in my downstairs toilet. I'd just sit there for 15 minutes."

It comes after Donna Preston revealed the real reason she took part on Scared of the Dark was because she could lose her eyesight due to her rare health condition.

Opening up to her co-star Scarlett, the 36-year-old explained that she has a rare condition that causes a build up of too much fluid in the brain.

As a result she has to undergo a lumbar puncture three times a year, where a doctor inserts a large needle in her spine to help drain the excess fluid.

As she struggled to hold back tears, she explained: "I could lose my sight. This is difficult, this is really difficult.

"This is the main reason I chose to do this, because of this condition, because one day I might list my eyesight."

Following the emotional conversation, the Geordie lass confessed that she actually enjoyed sitting in the pitch black because she doesn't have to worry about her body insecurities.

She said: "Until this I didn't realise how much I thought about what I look like. I put myself down.

"Since being in here I haven't thought about my tummy and double chin. I haven't thought about it! In this industry it is all about what you look like.

"But here we are all in the same boat. I look in the mirror too much and use unkind words to myself I need to start being nicer to myself."
