Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies made its debut earlier this month on Paramount+ with the girl group now founded at Rydell High School.

Among the original members is Jane Facciano (played by Marisa Davila) who is a straight-A student who takes her future very seriously.

She mostly focuses on her grades and, with the help of her friends, has made it her mission to become the next class president.

Before joining the cast of the Grease prequel, actress Marisa Davila had been in Super Giant Robot Brothers, Atypical, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and I Am Not Okay with This.

The actress and singer told Express.co.uk that Jane was the only role for her.

“I just auditioned for Jane right off the bat”, Davila said.

“It came into my email and I was so excited as a theatre kid, I’m obsessed with any musical theatre project that comes through the pipeline.”

But this didn’t mean that the part of Jane was Davila’s right from the get-go.

In fact, her co-star Cheyenne Isabel Wells, who is behind Olivia Valdovinos, also went for the role.

As Wells initially revealed her connection to Jane, Davila simply responded with “Oh my God”.

“I actually did audition for another role, I actually got Jane first,” she explained.

“I read the thing and I said ‘It’s not me’ and ended up getting Olivia after that and I was like ‘There we go, there I am’.

“I see a lot of myself in Olivia and I bring a lot of myself to her throughout the series and I love Olivia so much.”

In episode four, If You Can’t Be an Athlete, Be an Athletic Supporter, Jane found a connection with fellow student Richie (Johnathan Nieves) who seems to be the polar opposite.

While Jane is focused on doing her best for the future, Richie is far less concerned with his academic studies.

Nevertheless, sparks fly and Jane quickly grows smitten with him, despite their differences.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies continues every Thursday on Paramount+.
