Rachel Riley apologises after making Jedward dig while weighing in on Wiley's anti-Semitic rant

RACHEL Riley has apologised after making a Jedward dig while weighing in on Wiley's anti-Semitic rant.

The Jewish TV presenter was one of the many people left horrified by the rapper's anti-semitic Twitter rant earlier this weekend.

Before he was banned from the social networking site, Rachel, 34, tweeted that if the grime artist wanted to end his career, there were easier ways than attacking the Jewish community.

She wrote: "He could have just done a duet with Jedward if he was that keen to end his career.

"An unprompted, still going, public antisemitic breakdown is a bizarre route to go down."

However, Rachel's tweet didn't go down well with the Irish twins, who rose to fame on The X Factor.

They quickly hit back: "You are a patron for a Center for Countering Digital Hate?

"And yet here you are spreading Hate!! As anti bullying ambassadors we don’t approve of this!"

Rachel promptly apologised, explaining the comment was made in jest as they were the "least grime artists" she could think of, before deleting the original message.

She added in another post: "Apologies to @planetjedward, totally flippant joke about them not being particularly grime and no offence intended.

"Good meme below though, they’re nice boys and I didn’t think of the cumulative impact of jokes."

Jedward went on to tell the Mirror: "As anti bullying ambassadors for the Princess Diana Trust we felt obligated to comment on Rachel’s Tweet, in the hope that she would realise that it was hurtful to us.

"We would hope that someone who has taken on a similar anti bullying ambassadorship would have known better than to pass a comment such as this.

"However, we understand that people sometimes say and do things they may not always mean or do not understand the impact it can have in others.

"We hope Rachel is taking this opportunity to grow from this situation and in future will think before she tweets."

The Sun Online has contacted a representative for Rachel for comment.
