Elly (played by Jodi Anasta) bid farewell to her friends and family on Neighbours last year following her horrendous ordeal at the hands of villain, Finn Kelly (Rob Mills). This left Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) devastated given her history with the mother-of-one but she was enjoying her marriage to Pierce Greyson (Don Hany) at the time. Now in the process of divorcing her spouse and soon to begin a relationship with Nicolette (Charlotte Chimes) in upcoming scenes on the Channel 5 soap, Elly’s return could send shockwaves around Erinsborough. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the actress who plays Chloe, April, has teased a big comeback for the beloved character.

The last time viewers saw Elly, she was giving things a go with Finn’s brother Shaun Watkins (Brad Moller), who is also the father to her daughter, Aster.

They’ve since been building a life with each other in Switzerland and viewers have been kept updated on them through Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) and Bea Neilson (Bonnie Anderson).

After a year together, however, the couple could agree to go their separate ways as even though Finn is dead, he could still be causing them issues from beyond the grave.

Needing her friends and family, Elly could make her way back to Ramsay Street in the hope Chloe would be there for support.

Her best friend and ex-girlfriend striking up a romance with Nicolette could thwart her plans so will she plan to cause a divide between the pair?

But there could be more than meets the eye as Elly could realise she has always loved Chloe and no one will ever compare to her.

With Pierce out the way, the mother-of-one would have had the perfect opportunity to whisk the businesswoman off of her feet.

However, if she were to come up with a way to split up her ex-girlfriend and current partner, she could have a huge hurdle to overcome.

Nicolette has proven herself to be quite the troublemaker and is very mischievous so she could be one step ahead of Elly.

Their chemistry would be undeniable

Seeing how uncomfortable the mother-of-one is around her, Nicolette could try to turn Chloe against Elly in a bid to win her over for good.

Will it become a battle for the businesswoman as her current lover and former lover fight for her affections?

Speaking with Express.co.uk, soap star April addressed what would happen with her current relationship if Elly were ever to return.

The actress explained: “I think Chloe and Nicolette have a wonderful connection and it would depend on where they are in their relationship and how long they have been together.”

“But I think that Chloe and Elly would immediately find the spark again. Their chemistry would be undeniable,” April said.

“I can picture them running away together and raising Aster, finally happy and at peace.”

Could Chloe and Nicolette be over before they’ve even begun as the latter realises she too loves her ex-girlfriend?

The actress who played Elly, Jodi, has also spoken out about her character making a comeback sometime in the future.

Jodi explained: “What I would say is I don’t want people to give up on Chelly. I, as Jodi, certainly haven’t.

“Just because I’m leaving the show, that doesn’t mean that Chelly is at an end. At any point, I can come back and sweep her off of her feet.

“I really believe in that storyline, and I believe in the connection those two girls had. You can see that on-screen even throughout this whole kind of craziness of what’s going on.

“I remember when I spoke to the producers about leaving. I remember that was the one thing I said, like, we can’t let this go,” she told Express.co.uk.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1:45pm and 5:30pm on Channel 5.
