'NCIS: Hawaii': Will There Be 'Hawaii Five-O' Characters On the 'NCIS' Spinoff Series? Fans Hope So!

CBS recently announced that the curtains would be closing on one fan-favorite show. The announcement followed the cancellation of another hit NCIS spinoff, NCIS: New Orleans, closely. However, fans will be getting a new spinoff called NCIS: Hawaii.

Reports indicate that the network has ordered a direct-to-series for the new spinoff. Although CBS and showrunners are still casting for the show’s pilot, fans already speculate about what the new show will be about and whether their favorites from Hawaii Five-0 will reprise their roles for the new show.

CBS didn’t say why they canceled the cult-favorite

CBS announced that the last episode of the hit drama Hawaii Five-0 would be airing on April 3, 2020. However, the network had to reschedule the episode’s air date due to the coronavirus, which meant that instead of the 2-hour special finale, viewers got two final episodes aired separately.

The episode that wrapped up the island-set show was titled ‘Aloha.’ The episode saw Danny getting abducted and wounded by Wo Fat’s wife, who’s after vengeance, but Steve saves him in the nick of time. Steve finally solved the case his father had left him a decade earlier.

CBS remained mum on why they canceled the show, but sources suggest that the show ended because Scott Caan and Alex O’Loughlin were ready to leave. Loughlin, in particular, had indicated his departure from the show earlier on, saying that he was having a hard time dealing with the effects of a back injury he sustained on set. Caan wanted to leave to be close to his family.

The actors’ contracts were also coming to an end, which also contributed to them exiting the series. The cast of Hawaii Five-0 had glowing things to say about their time working on the show. O’Loughlin said in a statement that he was “glad to have been a part of this.”

Fans were shocked at the announcement

The news of the show’s cancellation came as a shock to fans everywhere. Some fans couldn’t believe that they would not see their favorite characters anymore. Others had plenty of questions about why CBS decided to wrap up the show despite its solid ratings.

Generally, fans and viewers everywhere had great things to say about the show. Many praised the actors who brought their favorite characters to life, while others praised the fitting plotlines. However, some fans didn’t have glowing comments about the finale.

A number of fans felt betrayed by the ending, saying that the finale didn’t do justice to McGarrett and Danny’s relationship. Fans were mad that McGarrett chose to go away with a girl instead of sticking around for and with Danny.

Others were upset that McGarrett left his dog behind. Some fans couldn’t handle the teary goodbyes between McGarrett and his dog Eddie. However, a few fans held out hope that the writers would leave a window of opportunity for McGarrett and Danny to reunite, possibly in another show.

Will fans get to see their fan favorite ‘Hawaii Five-0’ characters again?

As fans bid goodbye to Hawaii Five-O, they said hello to a new and exciting show NCIS: Hawaii. Many people speculated that NCIS: Hawaii would be replacing Hawaii Five-0, considering that CBS will be shooting on location.

Deadline reports that CBS will be using the production facility they used for Hawaii Five0 to film NCIS: Hawaii. There is no official confirmation on whether fan-favorite Hawaii Five-0 characters will be making a cameo in NCIS: Hawaii, but fans have held out hope for that to happen.

One fan on Reddit said,” I cannot help but wonder if this would be the way they bring back McGarrett.” Another user added, “I wonder if they’ll utilize some of the Hawaii Five-0 characters like Kamekona or how many ex-Hawaii Five-0 cast that enjoy being based in Hawaii are going to join.”
