Strictly Come Dancing professional Nadiya Bychkova and partner Dan Walker appeared on Loose Women to discuss how their training is going. Whilst speaking to the panellists, Nadiya exposed the BBC Breakfast presenter had ended up “falling asleep” during their training session as a result of his packed work schedule and intense rehearsal regime.

Ruth Langsford introduced the pair to the show and said: “Dan, who knew? Did you even know you had that in you?”

Laughing, Dan said: “My wife asked me about three weeks before the competition started, she said can you actually dance properly?

“I said I don’t really know, so when Anton said I thought you’d be awful on that first week we did the quickstep, I felt like saying, ‘so did I’.

“I was as surprised as anyone else, but in all honesty, Nadiya is absolutely amazing, and I feel like I’m learning so much from her.

“If you had told me two weeks ago that I’d have danced a quickstep and danced a Paso Doble and got mid 20’s points for both of them, I would have gone get in the bin,” he joked.

Agreeing with Dan, Nadiya praised: “You’re amazing, he works so hard and hardly sleeps with waking up at 3am.”

Dan regularly fronts BBC Breakfast alongside Sally Nugent on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, meaning the presenter is often awake before the sun has risen.

“Every day, he comes to rehearsals and gives me 100 per cent every time, but he did fall asleep yesterday,” Nadiya continued with Dan pointing to where it happened.

They went on to speak about what Dan’s family think, as Gloria Hunniford said: “It’s so diverse from what you do every morning, you have to be very serious in the morning with the news.

“Your family would be used to watching you doing that, what do they think now of this new dad and this new husband?”

Smiling at the thought, Dan revealed: “Gloria, they are absolutely loving it, and also they are really enjoying getting to know Nadiya.

“The first day we trained in Sheffield, she came round for dinner, she met my wife and my three children.

“It was my kids really who persuaded me to do Strictly Come Dancing, they said, ‘we’d love you to do some telly dad, we’d love you to do Saturday Mash-Up and Strictly’.

“So, I did Saturday Mash-Up, and then I agreed to do Strictly, but I genuinely thought I’d do it for a couple of weeks, I’ll be terrible, and then I could go home,” he said.

“But I’ve really really enjoyed it, and I know you’d expect me to say this because she’s sat next to me, but this woman is incredible.”

Speaking on becoming “part of the Walker family”, Nadiya exclaimed: “They are such a beautiful family, and they love it as well, so it’s beautiful.”

Dan and Nadiya performed the Paso Doble on Saturday, which received astounding comments from all four judges.

Thanks to their combined judges and audience scores, the pair scored an impressive 26 points and avoided the dreaded dance-off.

Sadly, Nina Wadia was eliminated from the show on Sunday after facing Katie McGlynn in the dance-off.

Taking to Twitter to share his condolences, Dan wrote: “I know it’s only a TV show, but I am gutted to see @Nina_Wadia leave.

“Nina is an amazing woman who lights up every room she walks into with her smile, kindness and sense of humour, we will all miss her.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
