Former Saturday Night Live regular Jason Sudeikis made an appearance on Good Morning America to plug his latest project, Ted Lasso. While there, he chatted about a possible reunion with Maya Rudolph on Saturday Night Live.

Sudeikis and Rudolph were both standout performers during their time on Saturday Night Live. The actors were famous for comedic impersonations of public figures. To the delight of fans, both stars have occasionally returned to the show for special appearances. And in the current political landscape, Sudeikis and Rudolph just may have an opportunity to create more memorable sketches in the near future.
With the 2020 presidential election heating up, the creative minds behind Saturday Night Live will have plenty of material to mine. Former Vice President Joe Biden, who Sudeikis portrayed on the show, is the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate. In other news, Senator Kamala Harris, who Rudolph impersonates with a wink and a nod, is Biden’s running mate. The recent developments have given Sudeikis and Rudolph the perfect opportunity to collaborate on more hilarious sketches.
A Sudeikis and Rudolph reunion could be ‘Good for America’
During his interview on Good Morning America, Sudeikis teased that he’s nearly ready to again step into the role of Biden on Saturday Night Live. When asked to give viewers a taste of his spot-on impression, he unapologetically refused. Still, he was happy to offer his opinion about his cohort, Rudolph, possibly returning to delight viewers with her version of Harris.
“You know, I think any television where Maya Rudolph is on more is good for America,” Sudeikis declared.

When the news broke that Harris would become the Vice Presidential candidate, Rudolph was in the middle of an Entertainment Weekly panel discussion involving 2020 Emmy nominees. As it turns out, the actress is nominated for playing Harris on Saturday Night Live. Upon hearing that Biden had chosen Harris as his running mate, Rudolph replied with an unfiltered, “Oh sh*t.“
Rudolph then expressed interest in reprising her role as Harris on Saturday Night Live. “I love going to the show,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Any excuse I can get, I love. I just didn’t really anticipate traveling during a pandemic, but if there’s anyone that can work it out, I’m sure Lorne [Michaels] has some sort of invisible helicopter that can get me there.”
When will Sudeikis and Rudolph next appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’?
The shortened 2019-2020 season of Saturday Night Live ended with at-home sketches from the stars. The shift in format was necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic that paralyzed Hollywood.
Variety reported that NBC and the show’s head honcho Lorne Michaels would prefer to bring the show back to the studio for the 2020-2021 season. It remains to be seen when that will happen. But when it does, it appears that Sudeikis and Rudolph are on board to perform their hilarious renditions of Biden and Harris.
