Kerry Katona splashes £200k on art for her new £2m mansion eight years after double bankruptcy hell

KERRY Katona has treated herself to £200k worth of art for her new mansion – eight years after her double bankruptcy hell.

The mum-of-five, who recently bought a £2 million home, showed off the expensive work on her Instagram Story.

Delighted with her purchases, Kerry proudly posed next to the designs by artist Domingo Zapata in a showroom.

Alongside her post, Kerry wrote: "Still so giddy over the art I bought yesterday. @DomingoZapata he's amazing. Got all 4! Can't wait to get them up."

According to Zapata, his work usually sells for around $70k a piece.

The artist previously told Forbes: "The most I have sold a piece for is $275,000, and the average rate of a painting is probably in the $70,000 range."

Earlier this month, The Sun revealed the former Atomic Kitten star is finally buying her own home, 13 years after losing everything.

Her remarkable new pad has six bedrooms, a walk-in wardrobe and a cinema room.

Meanwhile, the reality star recently took to social media to insist she isn't "bragging" about the new home.

Sitting in her car with youngest daughter DJ, Kerry said: "I'm going to film all the move, the house is absolutely stunning. It's like a blank canvas at the minute so I want to change it all inside.

"I want you to help me, I want your advice and opinions."

She continued: "I'm really, really excited and yes it is an expensive house but I've done really, really well.

"And this isn't me rubbing anything in anyone's face or bragging, I think this goes to show that people can turn their life around, they really, really can."

Kerry had previously been declared bankrupt twice in just five years, and has also opened up about her drugs battle in the past.

In 2019, she told how she became an addict at just 14 years old after her alcoholic mum gave her drugs – telling her they were 'sherbet dip'.

And by 28, with three failed marriages and years of drug abuse behind her, Kerry was suicidal.

Also in 2019, Kerry was left devastated when ex George Kay was found dead after a suspected drug overdose.

However, things have taken a turn for the better in recent months, with the star getting engaged to personal trainer Ryan Mahoney in August 2020 – now appearing to be happier and healthier than ever.
