Joey Essex officially welcomed into ‘new home’ in Dubai as he quits Essex after horrifying break in at £1m mansion | The Sun

JOEY Essex has been officially welcomed intohis "new home" in Dubai, as he quit Essex after a horrifying home break in.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star was all smiles as he met with officials in the UAE this week, dressed in traditional white clothes.

Joey, 32, was seen heading to the Burj Al Arab to meet with officials, who gifted him an Esaad card to mark his "new home".

The card provides holders with deals to save money across education, health, restaurants and entertainment, and is issued by the police.

Joey was gifted the card after moving to Dubai – jetting off last year after a terrifying break in at his Essex home earlier this year.

Looking smart in a white shirt and matching white trousers, Joey wore sunglasses on his head for the meeting.

Joey also hopped into a car with a military police official, as well as posing for a photo with flowers he was gifted at the event.

"At the world's most luxurious hotel Burj Al Arab I met up with the Dubai Government," Joey penned under the snaps. "They told me Dubai is now my home.

"Thank you to Mahmoud Al Burai & Shahab Ahmed Alsaadi for everything you have put in place for me and Dubai police, Dubai tourism board, Dubai media for getting in touch and taking time to meet me and giving me the warmest welcome to their country.

"Happiness is the way forward. Inshallah."

Fans flooded the comments to wish Joey "good luck" in his new home, welcoming him to the Middle East.

"New beginnings' brother. Wish you all the happiness and luck in the world," Towie pal Liam Gatsby penned, while Tommy Mallet wrote: "Be lucky brother."

It comes after it was revealed Joey was quitting England for Dubai after he was left an emotional wreck following the raid on his Essex mansion.

The Dancing on Ice star was left terrified after burglars struck last year, with the incident believed to have triggered a search for a move abroad.

The former Towie star, who is dating his telly rink partner Vanessa Bauer, is said to have his eyes set on the United Arab Emirates, where he would feel “safe”.

A source told The Sun: “Joey has started house-hunting in Dubai. He is planning to buy a base out there so he can jet off whenever he likes.

“Joey will be splitting his time between his home in Essex and his new place in Dubai.

“He loves the lifestyle out there and feels completely safe.”

We revealed in January last year how Joey was “horrified and shaken” when raiders ransacked his £3million pad while he was out with friends.

He called police after returning in the early hours to find an upstairs window open.

Police confirmed they were investigating a break-in at the four-bed property in Essex.

The source went on: “The incident at his house made him think about his life and what he wants from it.
