Jeremy Edwards has refused a return to Hollyoaks after he revealed to his social media followers that he was ‘done’.
The actor, who recently reprised his role as Kurt Benson on the soap, took to Twitter to reveal the news.
He told his followers that despite there being ‘many reasons’ behind his decision, he explained that being ‘judged’ online had heavily influenced his choice.
‘It is with a heavy heart I am announcing I will NOT be returning to #Hollyoaks,’ he penned.
‘Many reasons but I’d be lying if I said being judged on here hasn’t influenced my decision.
‘Never say never but for now, I’m done. Thank you to those who have supported me for me.’
Jeremy’s fans were quick to comment on the news with many saying how ‘gutted’ they were about his decision.
One tweeted: ‘Gutted. I didn’t watch you on there in the past, was too young. I loved watching you on there in the last 2 months. So handsome. Going to miss you in the show and the motorbike.’
Another said: ‘Please don’t let idiots influence your decision ! Ok it wasn’t the best storyline BUT Kurt is iconic for us old enough to remember the good old days lol ! Keep your head held high x’
While one added: ‘I am so very sad to hear this, you are a true legend and you will be very missed that’s for sure! We adore you.’
In December Jeremy’s character Kurt made a shock exit from the show after being exposed as a ‘con man’.
He also revealed to best pal Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) that he’d previously faked his own death.
Kurt persuaded Mandy Morgan (Sarah Jayne Dunn), Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson), Verity (Eva O’Hara) and Tony to invest in his Slim Scran scam, but he was ultimately exposed by villainous Edward (Joe McGann).
After another showdown with Edward, he decided to flee the village — meaning that Darren, Tony and Mandy were left in financial difficulty, as he hadn’t paid back the money he scammed them out of.
