Is Kate Fleming sleeping with DCI Davidson?

Well, a lot was going on in the first episode of Line of Duty season six.

Viewers were introduced to the new big boss on the block, DCI Jo Davidson.

Jo and Kate Fleming (who has left AC-12 between the events of season five and six) seem to have a good working relationship.

Kate even goes so far as to keep a huge surveillance mistake in the Gail Vella murder case quiet, to save Jo even more grief from her boss.

Towards the end of the episode, viewers get a quick peek into Jo’s personal life which seems to be going up in flames.

In a twist nobody saw coming, Jo is seen collecting her belongings from her ex-partner house, who turns out to be Sergeant Farida Jatri (Anneika Rose)

Not only is Jo Farida’s boss, but Farida is also the officer who reported Jo to Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) at AC-12.

To make matters worse, AC-12 has followed through on Farida’s evidence and as opened an investigation into Jo’s behaviour.

Amid an awkward exchange as Jo packs a suitcase of her belongings, Farida accuses Jo of sleeping with her colleague, Kate Fleming.

She asks: “Are you moving in with her now?” to which Jo replies sarcastically: “Kate and I have been s******* on the sly for months. Even though she’s straight and I never cheated on you.

“Now I see why you never made detective.”

There is a huge possibility there could be a romance on the cards between the pair in future episodes this season but for now, Jo denied having any romantic involvement with Kate.

Elsewhere, Kate is coping with separating from her husband Mark (Max Dowler) for a second time.

From seasons two to five, she and her husband split due to the nature of Kate’s work and her affair with Richard Akers.

He retained custody of their son and even changed the locks on the family home.

In series five, the pair reconciled their relationship and lived together as a family but by season six, they appear to have separated.

At the end of episode one, viewers will have noticed a spark between the pair when Kate reached out her hand to comfort Jo.

What the moment means going forward is unknown, but fans have their suspicions.

One Line of Duty fan tweeted: “Kate fleming and jo Davidson are girlfriends and I will not be debating this x”

A second fan said: “Been saying since 2012 Kate Fleming is not a straight woman and finally- I am vindicated!!!! Rubbing my little evil queer hands together in delight at the thought of not only a gay subplot but a morally dubious one!!!!! TV is back and it’s good again.”

A third fan added: “bisexual kate fleming would heal the world.”

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other press about her character’s arc this season, actress Vicky McClure said: “I had a great time shooting it you know, it was an explosive series.

“I did have a lot of fun and it’s always great when you turn the page and you know, whether it’s cracking line or some action sequence.

“I’m just very chuffed that I’m in those positions where, you know, lots of that was going on.”
