I’m A Celebrity’s Ant McPartlin ruins surprise backstage birthday celebrations

Ant McPartlin accidentally ruined his backstage surprise when he was treated to a low-key birthday bash by the cast from I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.

The reality show host celebrated his 45th birthday in Wales, which saw him being showered with balloons by co-star Dec Donnelly and the crew.

They even made a mini-size Ant and Dec figurines out of balloons.

The presenters were filmed arriving backstage ahead of yesterday's I'm A Celebrity live show.

In the footage shared on Instagram, Ant gets overexcited when he sees the blue balloon banner taped up between two dressing room trailers.

He runs towards the "Happy Birthday" banner, and the next second, the prop falls to the ground.

A worker is heard giggling and Dec says: "Oh look what have you done."

Ant turns around, looking embarrassed, and says: "Sorry."

He then walks over to the trailer and picks up a balloon model of himself for a photo.

When they got into trailer, Dec gave Ant a birthday gift with huge box wrapped in colourful papers.

As Ant opened the box, he realised there was another inside, and another one inside, until it reached to a small paper packaging.

He unwrapped and yelled: "It's a pen! One of those favourite pens!"

The joke started last month when Ant gave Dec a "multi-purpose pen" with a pen, a ruler and a spirit level as his birthday gift.

Dec laughed: "Sorry I’m going to have to take a minute, that’s just blown my mind."

The TV icon usually spends his birthday in Australia every year but is currently residing in Wales as ITV was forced to move the set amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The birthday celebration came after Ant and Dec shared a glimpse of their intense schedule to fans on Instagram.

The whiteboard in the background of the picture detailed every moment of their working day, which normally starts around 5.15pm before eventually wrapping up around 12.45am.
