Geordie Shore thrown into chaos as illness hits cast and filming is axed | The Sun

GEORDIE Shore has been thrown into chaos with filming on the next series axed as illness sweeps through the cast.

The hit MTV reality show is currently filming its next series in sunny Cyprus after flying the entire cast out.

However, they've been forced to abandon production as they've all been struck down with illness.

It's left the stars in such a bad way that they've now returned to the UK.

A show insider told The Sun Online: "It was horrific – everyone got ill and couldn’t film – it ripped through the cast so in the end, bosses had to end filming early and everyone went home.”

When approached, a spokesperson for MTV declined to comment.

The news comes after The Sun exclusively revealed that Geordie Shore star Sam Gowland would be returning to the show.

The reality star, 27, was fired from the MTV series back in 2019 after a series of explosive bust ups with ex Chloe Ferry.

But Sam will now be reunited with the Geordie gang for the new series and viewers will get to see how it plays out on screen.

A source said "Sam flew out and surprised the cast in Cyprus – it was a total shock to everyone when he arrived, and extremely awkward for Chloe."

But not all cast members will be pleased to have him back after previously falling out with some of his co-stars.

Meanwhile, this will be the last series of the reality programme after 12 years on screens.

A source said: “MTV chiefs have decided the time has come to call it a day on Geordie Shore.

“The already commissioned series, which is the show's 24th, will go ahead with filming kicking off this weekend and the reunion will go ahead as planned later this summer.

"But once those have been filmed MTV have decided to rest the series and will not be commissioning any more.
