EastEnders' Lola has been seen being taken to the beach in a wheelchair by her loving husband Jay in heartbreaking final scenes for the soap.
In October 2022, the hairdresser, played by Danielle Harold, found out the devastating news of her terminal cancer diagnosis (a brain tumour), with doctors telling her she has just months to live.
Danielle and Jamie Bothwick, who plays her husband Jay, were seen filming the scenes as their characters, with Jay pushing Lola in a wheelchair, as well as enjoying the views with a coffee in hand and even doing a romantic Titanic-style scene reminiscent of Jack and Rose.
Lola was dressed in a purple tracksuit with a fur-hooded white jacket over the top and a big black bow covering most of her hair loss, whilst huge hooped earrings hung from her ears.
She had a patchwork pink and purple blanket draped over her knees and trainers on her feet as her loyal husband pushed her along.
Actress Danielle Harold recently opened up on how much it meant to her to be "trusted" with such a big storyline.
She said: "It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heart-breaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories.
"They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them."
Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer added: "It was vital for us to work alongside Macmillan and Brain Tumour Research to take on, and accurately present, such a profound and emotional storyline for Lola, one that many viewers may relate to.
"Danielle [Harold] has thoughtfully relayed the realities of being diagnosed with a brain tumour with grace and understanding. We hope that this storyline resonates with the audience and that we represent it as sensitively, and accurately as possible."
It was revealed last month that Lola will have passed away by Christmas, as a flash-forward scene showed a photo of her in a frame on the Queen Vic bar next to Linda.
Fans were gutted as the news was confirmed, as they took to Twitter to share their dismay.
One said: "Lola's news. The end has begun #EastEnders ".
A second added: "Lola being told she has only 6 months to live," whilst a third shared: "I know it's only a soap but it breaks my heart #EastEnders."
Taking to Facebook, another show fan shared a picture of the scene with Lola's picture circled, they penned: "A picture of Lola must mean she dies near to Christmas."
