Eamonn Holmes gets his Tamwars and Masoods mixed up in awkward EastEnders moment

This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes had a slightly awkward moment on the show, when he mixed up Himesh Patel’s character on EastEnders.

The actor, who’s most recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, appeared as Tamwar Masood on the soap from 2007 to 2016.

However, asking him about his time on the square, Eamonn got his character mixed up with his on-screen father, Masood Ahmed, played by Nitin Ganatra.

Himesh didn’t acknowledge the blunder, with the actor having nothing but praise for his time on the show.

He revealed that it was a ‘great training ground’ ahead of working on Hollywood movies, admitting: ‘Playing Tamwar for that amount of time was amazing.’

The 29-year-old explained that, while the scale of the movies is a lot bigger, he’s used a lot of the same skills as on EastEnders.

‘You still have to have that discipline of work every day,’ he said, adding that the soap helped him to think about ‘moving parts’ on set.

Himesh plays Mahir in the Nolan movie, with the actor saying: ‘The thing about Chris’s movies is they’re layered…you get to watch something you’ve never seen before.’

Consider us intrigued.

Himesh left EastEnders four years ago after 10 years on the Square and, chatting to Metro.co.uk last year, he’s not ruling out a potential return.

‘If we all came back, the family who originally joined in 2007. ‘If we came back and we were the main storyline for a week,’ he said.

When pressed if he would be happy to therefore return if it was just for one week, he added: ‘I am not saying I would definitely be happy to do it. But hypothetically speaking, yes.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
