Don Warrington has starred as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in the hit crime drama Death in Paradise since it first began. However, a recent tease from the BBC has left some worried about his fate on the show – here’s why.
Is Don Warrington leaving Death in Paradise?
Fans of Death in Paradise have loved the stern head of the police force Commissioner Patterson ever since season one.
Over the years he has appeared in several major storylines and overseen several different head detectives.
Viewers have also been able to see a slightly softer side to him after his niece Ruby Patterson (played by Shyko Amos) was introduced to the show.
However, ahead of the return of the show for season 10, some viewers will be concerned about what the future holds for his character.
Along with the announcement confirming the start of filming, the BBC also shared some details about what will happen next.
Part of this hinted the commissioner will still be struggling with his annoyance at DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little).
But this also included a worrying hint about what is next for Patterson in the show.
The synopsis teased: “Selwyn’s frustrations with his new detective take a back seat when he finds himself in the firing line.”
The fact he will find himself in danger is enough to leave anyone worried about his safety.
However, so far, nothing more has been revealed, which means fans can only speculate on what might happen.
Actor Warrington has also not opened up about any plans to leave the series soon.
As well as this, there are already a number of other exits which have been announced by the BBC.

When Death in Paradise season 10 returns, the show will look very different as two of the major stars are exiting.
These are Aude Legastelois-Bidé who plays DS Madeline Dumas and Amos who stars as Ruby.
The BBC confirmed: “After two series bringing law, order, and joy to the streets of Saint Marie, we’re sad to say goodbye to Ruby Patterson who made such a massive impact in such a short time!
“DS Madeleine Dumas will also be departing Saint Marie’s sunny shores.
“We would like to thank Shyko Amos and Aude Legastelois-Bidé for bringing Ruby and Madeleine to life and wish them all the very best for the future.”
Therefore, fans will have to hope there will not be any more exits alongside this.
As well as some of the cast leaving, the show will also see a familiar face returning.
Joséphine Jobert will be back as DS Florence Cassell in the upcoming season of the show after leaving a few outings back.
Death in Paradise season 10 is expected in 2021.
