Dan Walker savaged by BBC viewers over Boris Johnson’s bike ride remarks: ‘Get a grip!

BBC Breakfast: Dan recalls taking his wife to watch snooker

BBC Breakfast viewers have hit out at Dan Walker as he interviewed Crime and Policing Minister Kit Malthouse over the possibility of higher restrictions, enforcing mask wearing in supermarkets and whether Boris Johnson’s recent bike ride seven miles away from his home broke lockdown rules. Malthouse explained the term local “can mean different things in different places” while viewers pointed out seven miles was a typical distance for a bike ride.

One tweeted: “@mrdanwalker did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning? I really like the BBC Breakfast news when you are on but the seven mile bike thing discussion was beneath you. You always seem to be the common sense presenter, get a grip. Bring back the normal Dan please.”

“What a terrible lightweight interview that was,” another shared.

“Kit gives a good response to the PM’s bike ride. A 14 mile bike ride for the average cycling enthusiast is about an hour so as long as he started and finished his ride from home what has he done wrong? Please don’t waste air time on petty non-issues,” a third warned.

Someone else added: “@[email protected] seven miles is about half an hour bike ride! Ask @louiseminchin! What do you expect him to do? Cycle in circles. Trivial.”
