Dame Barbara Windsor’s funeral will take place today.
The EastEnders actress died last month following a battle with Alzheimers.
Dame Barbara will be cremated at Golders Green Crematorium in London this afternoon.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, the service will be a private one, with a limited number of mourners.
Christopher Biggins, who was a close friend of Dame Barbara’s, is set to speak at the funeral service.
The Alzheimers Society remembered the actress this morning.
‘Dame Barbara was a truly extraordinary woman,’ they wrote in a tweet. ‘Today our thoughts are with her and Scott’s family and friends and everyone who loved her.
We will be forever grateful to Dame Barbara and her husband for sharing their dementia experience so bravely.’
EastEnders co-star Emma Barton — who portrays Honey Mitchell on the BBC One soap — also said: ”Goodnight.. God Bless. Dame Barbara Windsor’
Tributes poured in for Barbara after news of her death broke last month, with Danniella Westbrook, Jonathan Ross and Steve McFadden all sharing their memories of the icon.
An EastEnders spokesperson said: An EastEnders spokesperson shared: ‘We are all deeply saddened that that we’ve lost our Dame.
‘From the moment Barbara stepped foot in Walford she created an icon in Peggy Mitchell, our formidable Landlady, who the audience instantly fell in love with but to all of us at EastEnders, she was our dearest friend who was truly loved and adored by everyone.
‘Our thoughts go out to Scott and Barbara’s family. Rest in peace Dame Barbara Windsor, MBE.’
