Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has been left heartbroken after her uncle died of coronavirus.
The actress — who portrayed Michelle Connor on the long-running ITV serial drama — wrote in her OK! magazine column about her uncle’s passing.
She said: ‘It’s been a very hard time for me and my family this last week. My uncle George – my mum’s sister’s husband – passed away from coronavirus.
‘You hear about people losing their loved ones during this time and people passing away alone in hospitals and only a few people attending their funerals.
‘But when it happens to you and your family, it really brings this whole thing home. It breaks my heart to think of him being alone in that hospital.’
‘My uncle George was an amazing man and I have so many happy memories of him.
‘He was a great guy and the life and soul of any party.
‘Sleep tight uncle George.’
Kym played Michelle in Coronation Street between 2006 and 2019, and has appeared in a number of huge storylines.
She is currently taking a break from the serial drama, and made a final appearance at the end of the previous year.
Coronation Street continues Wednesday 10 June at 7:30pm on ITV
