Coronation Street fans were left trying to do maths in their heads while watching Wednesday evening's episode after Chesney Brown flung an insult at Tyrone Dobbs.
Chesney (Sam Aston) accused Tyrone (Alan Halsall) of being "middle-aged" as they argued in the middle of the street, confronting him over his feelings for Alina Pop.
He fumed: "Do you know how pathetic you are? Just another sad middle-aged bloke chasing some youngster, abandoning your kids."
The argument carried on, but viewers were left fixating on the remark, with many assuming Tyrone was too young to be considered middle-aged.
Taking to Twitter, some fans wondered how old Tyrone could be, while others argued the insult was invalid.
One said: "So if Tyrone Dobbs is 38 years old why are people on the street calling him middle aged?? @alanhalsall #Corrie #Fiz."
"All the 30somethings on here screaming the Tyrone isn't middle-aged yet. Actually, yes, you're middle-aged at 30 – you just don't know it yet," added a second.
"Why do they keep calling Tyrone middle aged. You'd think he was pushing 50 plus," chimed a third.
And a fourth wrote: "Middle aged?? Tyrone's only 23 or so?"
"Fiz has repeatedly referred to Tyrone as middle aged, & now Chesney. He's hardly middle aged I m o! They're downing his confidence," a fifth added.
This isn't the first time Tyrone has been branded "middle-aged" by one of the locals.
In reality, both Tyrone and the actor Alan Halsall are just 38 years of age, while actress Ruxandra Porojnicu, who plays Alina, is 27.
During Monday's show, Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) savagely tore into Tyrone in front of Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment), making the snide remark when she saw Alina walk into the room.
She quipped: “I’d watch it if I were you Kirk, she has a thing for middle-aged men."
Tyrone suddenly appeared and started defending Alina, saying: “Just leave her alone will you?"
“I think you’re the one who should be leaving her alone," Sally replied, seething on Fiz Brown's behalf.
However, Kirk was quick to pick up on Sally's age jibe, as he wondered how thirtysomething Tyrone could be considered middle-aged.
He weighed in: “Hang on, middle aged?”
