Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Peter Barlow kills in revenge twist

Coronation Street: Eliza and Sam strike up a friendship

Coronation Street’s latest serial killer Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) is blissfully planning his wedding to Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) whilst recently taking out life insurance on her.

Stephen has so far gotten away with killing Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) and Rufus Donahue (Steve Meo).

Viewers of the ITV soap recently theorised that Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) or Elaine would be Stephen’s next victim as they stood in the way of him becoming the rich and successful businessman he strives to be.

He is currently in charge of Underworld alongside his niece Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) after drugging Carla Connor (Alison King) with LSD and making her think she was having another psychotic breakdown.

Now, viewers have begun to theorise that Stephen’s downfall is imminent and will be at the hands of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoigne) after murdering him.

Taking to their Reddit accounts, EmeraldGam3e50 began a thread and theorised: “I genuinely want him to be murdered by Peter for all he’s put Carla through.

“It would prove Peter cares for her deeply like he has done these past few weeks. And I would like to see its impact on Gail and Audrey the most.

“Most people would wanna see him be punished rather than die though I think.” (sic)

FaithlessnessFull972 expressed: “I just don’t want Peter to go to prison or I’d be with you. In a bin and several people suspected but nobody is ever sure who would do me fine.” (sic)

The original creator of the thread, EmeraldGam3e50, replied: “I don’t want my handsome man behind bars either, but knowing the justice system that would probably end up happening if Peter DID kill him.

“He just loves Carla so much and it’s breaking his heart what she’s going through. Hope he gives Stephen a good thumping though.” (sic)

Elsewhere, HaroldWeigh commented: “I think he will kill Elaine or try to but Tim will figure it out and Stephen will be exposed. The Platts will be shamed and Audrey will accidentally kill him.” (sic)

Whilst JonLeePButler is adamant that Elaine will be the one to kill him: “Elaine comes to her senses, whacks him over the head with a frying pan, and Stephen is out like a kipper. Buried in the back garden of their new home.” (sic)

User HocusPocus1216 noted: “It’s gonna have to be explosive, but I don’t think he will actually kill Elaine or Tim, I just think that’s too damning.

“He will have to kill off someone else though, probably a more ‘resident’ character, perhaps Ronnie since he seemed a bit suspicious of Stephen a few weeks ago, maybe he and Michael stumbled on something.

“Or somehow it will tie in with Paul’s exit at the end of the year since he’s indirectly involved now too. That could be interesting.” (sic)

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday airs 9pm on ITV.
