Britney Spears may have been "diagnosed with dementia" as a new documentary explores the reason behind her conservatorship.
BBC documentary The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, fronted by BAFTA award-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar explores some astounding claims, one being that the singer has dementia.
The one-off special sheds light onto the dark circumstances surrounding the conservatorship Britney, 39, has been under for the past 13 years.
Mobeen meets one of Britney's devoted fans, Hayley, who tells him about the dementia claim.
She says: "I believe there's doctors out there – this is just my personal opinion, don't want to get anyone sued, this is not out there legally – that are being paid off, for example, they have her on medication for dementia."
A stunned Mobeen said: "For dementia?"
Hayley explains: "For dementia. I've seen dementia, and there's no way any dementia patient is going on world tours, doing Vegas residencies, is learning 27 like back-to-back combo numbers, full choreo, no honey, that is not happening."
The journalist then does some research into the dementia theory but admits he finds it "out there".

After researching online, Mobeen discovers some fans sites that say they've got some of the paperwork surrounding the conservatorship.
He says he has "no way of knowing if these are legit, but this looks like it's linked to the conservatorship", and it references Britney's dad, James Spears.
Azhar explains to the camera: "On the second page, there's a page where you have to tick a box, essentially justifying the reason for the conservatorship, and the box that's ticked says 'the order relates to dementia placement or treatment as specified'."

He continues: "So there's only two options with that.
"Britney might have dementia. Now I'm not a doctor, but if that's the case, the world isn't aware of that.
"But the other option is actually more sinister, and that's the idea that she doesn't have dementia, but the conservatorship team have suggested that she has because they want to push the conservatorship through.
"If that's the case, then that's terrifying."
The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship is available on BBC iPlayer Saturday 1st May.
