Below Decks Ben Robinson praises Kate Chastain ahead of first baby

Below Deck OGs Kate and Ben reunite with Captain Lee

Below Deck’s Ben Robinson has posted a sweet message honouring fellow fan favourite Kate Chastain as she prepares to give birth to her first child. The pair – who were famed for their friendship as much as their furious rows on board the Bravo TV show – have remained close friends since leaving the series.

With Kate now in the final weeks of her pregnancy, Ben took to Instagram to commemorate his friend, sharing a photo of them both holding their bellies as they stand side-by-side.

Kate, wearing a turquoise bodycon dress, has a protective hand on her baby bump.

In the sweet caption, Ben joked: “Who knew that Kate Chastain and I would be the same weight one day… But to be fair I have been hitting the gym!

“Please wish my great friend @kate_chastain an easy delivery and a healthy beautiful baby! I am so proud of who you have become and the mother you will soon be.”

Fans adored the post, and were quick to join Ben in sharing their well-wishes for the mother-to-be in the Instagram comments.

“Go Kate! Soon you’ll have your favorite lil yacht guest to wait on hand and foot,” wrote @derekbillings.

User @ginagracia added: “Wishing you all good vibes and energy. I can’t wait to see your new family soon!”

“Best wishes for a beautiful, happy, healthy baby @kate_chastain,” wrote @princesslorie. “[Ben], you’re such a great friend to help her during this miraculous time.”

Kate announced her pregnancy in December 2022, and has since confirmed she will be going forward with motherhood without the father’s direct involvement.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, she said: “I’m doing it solo and perhaps with some help. But I’m happy to do it alone.”

She has not publicly disclosed who the father of her baby is.

In the run-up to the little ones arrival, Kate has teased the child will have a name with a “family significance”, and joked being chief stew onboard superyachts for years has “trained her” to deal with being a mother.

Kate has been flooded with support by fellow Below Deck stars, including Ben, as well as Captain Lee Rosbach.

“I have no doubt she’s going to be a great mom,” he told People.

He added: “She’s taken on a big challenge, but she’s more than up to it,” Lee said. “And I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this happy.”

Kate has become one of the most beloved crew members in Below Deck history, joining the main series in season two as chief stew and remaining on board until the end of season seven.

Ben was the chef on board for the first four seasons of the main show, before joining the team for the first season of spin-off, Below Deck: Mediterranean.

He later returned briefly for season three, but has since been travelling the world showing off his culinary skills.

The pair, who became known for their bickering, love/hate relationship, have since teamed up again to appear on Galley Talk, a Gogglebox-style series where previous crewmembers breakdown the latest seasons events.

Kate also made waves at the end of 2022 by joining reality competition The Traitors US, where despite being a “faithful” contestant, stirred up trouble by causing chaos among the group.
