Nando’s reopening nearly 100 restaurants this week for delivery and collection

Lockdown has been going on for what seems like forever, but we have some PERi good news that might just cheer you up.

Everyone’s favourite high street chicken restaurant Nando’s is reopening 94 of its branches for delivery and collection.

From Tuesday 26 May, 54 of their stores will be opening, followed by another 40 on Wednesday 27 May, and customers will be able to order food for delivery or collection from their website.

The new openings include branches in cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leicester, Coventry and Belfast, plus many more locations.

Following government advice the chicken chain shut their doors on 23 March owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Yet last month they trialled reopening with four restaurants in London and two in Manchester serving deliveries.

Although it is great news about the 94 restaurants, they will still not be offering a dine-in service and all of the click & collect orders must be made through nandos.co.uk to avoid queues and keep staff and customers healthy.

  • Nando's have just released Garlic PERinaise and we can't wait to try it

  • KFC are set to reopen 500 branches for takeaway and delivery by the end of the week

Therefore don’t just jump in the car and head to your nearest branch unless you are picking up an order at a previously allocated time.

Additionally, the firm will be operating with a slightly reduced menu. This is so that their staff can operate at a safe social distance. However, true Nando’s fans shouldn’t worry as iconic foods such as PERi PERi chicken wings, halloumi sticks, butterfly chicken and PERi chips will still be up for grabs.

But every staff member has been adhering to strict health and safety procedures include frequently washing their hands, social distancing and wearing PPE.

Scorpios belong to the Water element of the Zodiac and live to experience and express emotions.

This star sign has the reputation of being calm and make excellent leaders.

Ruled by fiery Mars and Pluto, Scorpio has one aim in a relationship and it’s all or nothing.

Scorpios are one of a kind who are loyal, passionate and have a great sense of humour.

While marrying a Scorpio can be intense, their fellow love match will soon realise that they wouldn’t want it any other way.

They love romance and passion and their biggest love matches are:

– Taurus

Scorpio and Cancer have a great deal in common and have the potential to keep their relationship passionate and going strong.

Aquarius gets the reputation of lacking emotionality which Scorpio understands, but in order for their love to last, Aquarius must understand that their Scorpio will love and appreciate them no matter what.

Taurus and Cancer can last together a lifetime because Taurus’ hate drama and tend to avoid it as much as they can.

Horoscope.com says: “Grounded earth sign Taurus may initially seem too staid for intense Scorpio, but this match can last precisely because Taurus won’t get drawn into any drama.”

Both signs prioritise their relationship with one another which is the exact reason their love will last forever.

Scorpios love playing hard to get initially, and may act like they never take the lead. However, once you get to know your Scorpio, you will realise that is far from the truth and love planning and taking their partner on surprise dates.

Horoscope.com says: “They love going all out with outfits, reservations, and cancels and truly want to be the best date you’ve ever had.”

If you love Scorpios passionately, love and happiness can last a lifetime and there won’t be any arguments if the truth is to be told between the pair.

Princess Anne body language shows ‘natural mother daughter bond’ with Camilla

Princess Anne is the only daughter of the Queen and Prince Philip. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has been a royal since marrying Prince Charles in 2005. Are they friends?

  • Princess Anne’s body language shows relationship with Charles

Princess Anne married Timothy Laurence in a ceremony Balmoral in 1992.

Many years before tying the knot, Princess Anne had briefly dated Andrew Parker Bowles.

Andrew later went on to wed Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the couple were married for 22 years.

While this could have been awkward when Camilla joined the Royal Family, the royal ladies seem to have a good relationship, body language expert Judi James said.

“Their touch rituals in public are telling,” Judi told Express.co.uk.

“One meeting at a racecourse shows both women wearing what look like delighted smiles and eye contact.

“Anne has extended one hand palm-up, which Camilla has then placed her own hand over in a sign of affection.

“The affection isn’t one-sided either, Anne’s fingers are curled up around Camilla’s thumb in a reciprocal gesture.”

Both royals have attended official events together as working members of the Royal Family.

Their close friendship was proven again as they attended the Christmas Day church service with the royals last year.

While Princess Anne will usually appear reserved in public, she was happy to share a joke with Camilla.

Judi added: “As Princess Anne walked up to the church entrance she went to join Camilla, who had clearly spotted the fact that they had both opted to wear matching, eye-catching purple outfits.

“Camilla pointed this out with a fun, elbowing gesture aimed at Anne and the two women laughed together.

“With any other royal but Anne this might have been unimportant but the Queen’s daughter is a woman who has often appeared to keep a polite and sometimes frosty-looking distance from some of the royal wives.

“This signal of what looked like easy-going friendship and shared fun with Camilla, who can often appear tense and rather anxious in public, did seem like a first.”

Not only does the Queen’s daughter get on well with her sister-in-law, Judi suggested her behaviour is almost maternal.

“The outfit ‘clash’ has happened before,” the expert continued, “with both women wearing identical colours and then mirroring one another’s body language as they stood in public together.

“Anne has never shown signs of being particularly close to her brother Charles.

“However, she does seem to share a natural friendship that could even border on a daughter/mother bond with Camilla.”

‘Car wash’ for supermarket trolleys that cleans 30 in 30 seconds could halt virus spread

A new ‘car wash’ for shopping trolleys could be rolled out in the UK in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus. As shoppers do fewer but larger supermarket shops, trolleys are being used more than ever – but they could harbour germs that help spread the disease. However, a new cleaning contraption could be the answer for supermarkets in the UK.

  • Tesco Clubcard voucher rules change in coronavirus shake-up

The Clean Trolley machine was invented in the Netherlands and is now being distributed in the UK by the Lancashire-based Wilkinson Mobile Catering.

The car wash-like contraption emits a fine anti-viral mist as trolleys pass through it, treating 30 trolleys in under 30 seconds.

It promises to leave the trolleys virus free, using a food-safe virucide mix – a chemical agent that kills viruses, including the coronavirus.

The company said it’s an efficient and safe way to instantly clean supermarket trolleys in between customers.

READ MORE: Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Aldi new restrictions rules

The mobile machine sterilises the entire trolley in seconds before they are put back in the trolley bay for the next person.

The clever machine has already had success in Germany, where it’s been used at supermarkets including Lidl and Aldi.

It’s said that hundreds of machines are being sold each week in Europe as businesses discover it’s a quicker way to ensure the safety of its customers.

Supermarkets in the UK are introducing strict hygiene measures with enhanced cleaning and rules for shoppers, but the company claimed that the machine is far more efficient than wiping down trolleys by hand.

Posting on its Facebook page, the company wrote: “Wiping down individual trolleys takes a lot of time, the Clean Trolley system is the future for our supermarkets and many other businesses!”

Wilkinson Mobile Catering owns a street food truck business and has had to furlough many of its staff, but is hoping to make the most of this new business idea as the sole distributor in the country.

In an interview on BBC Radio Lancashire, Mike Wilkinson, Managing Director of Wilkinson Mobile Catering said the intention is to run it out to “every supermarket in the UK”.

However, he also hopes to use it for hospital stretchers, wheelchairs, and anything portable but not electrical that is handled by groups of people.

Wilkinson said it would minimise the risk going forward and would be fundamental even after the coronavirus pandemic in order to prevent or minimise any future health crises.

It’s hoped that UK companies will buy the machine following the successful use of it in countries in Europe.

The company has shared video footage which shows how the product works, with stacks of trolleys going through the machine at once much like a car wash.

The atomised spray cleans the entire trolley including the wheels.

The new shopping trolley washer only requires a garden hose in order to work.

The fully portable machine uses a 10 litre container of the cleaning agent which then mixes with water.

The company said it would easily last a full day at a supermarket, thanks to the way it cleans up to 30 trolleys at once.

Wilkinsons has said it will donate 10 percent of all sales to the NHS charity fund.

Kate Middleton made this change to ‘prove herself’ in the Royal Family

Kate Middleton became a working royal and the Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William, 37, in 2011. She has gained many fans of her own and might have used one trick in particular to prove herself in the role.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William to experience ‘unexpected change’

Before Kate and Prince William married, not much was known about the Duchess of Cambridge.

While the couple had been dating for nearly 10 years, many heard her speak for the first time in their engagement interview in 2010.

After the wedding, the mother-of-three threw herself into her royal role and was regularly seen performing duties on behalf of the monarch.

Over the years, she appears to have grown in confidence and gained a huge number of fans of her own.

When she joined the Royal Family, Kate went through a change that might have helped her do that, according to Anthony McGrath, celebrity stylist and lecturer at the Fashion Retail Academy in London.

The royal seemingly used her style choices to grow in confidence and show she was up for the duties of the role.

Anthony told Express.co.uk: “As Kate transitioned to her role as the Duchess of Cambridge, her style inevitably evolved.

“Since Kate has been in the limelight she has always been somewhat of a conservative dresser.”

Opting for more conservative looks, Kate might have been following royal protocol.

Members of the family are reportedly encouraged to follow style rules such as wearing tights and avoiding short hemlines.

By quickly channeling this look, it is possible Kate was trying to prove herself in the family.

“Whether she wanted to prove herself to the Royal Family or it was her own personal style, who knows, but she was rarely seen in anything too risqué,” the expert explained.

“Since marrying Prince William and officially becoming a member of the Royal Family, her outfits have certainly become more modest.

“Think higher necklines, long sleeves and dresses that sit at the knee.”

Kate’s style has been commended over the years and outfits will often sell out quickly after being seen on the Duchess.

While opting for reserved clothing options, Kate started to carve her own style which has become recognisable.

Anthony added: “She had to leave behind the flirty and floaty dress, thigh-skimming minis and low-cut evening gowns.

“Instead, she introduced skirt suits and coat dresses, which have since become staple items in her wardrobe and are frequently her go-to looks for public engagements.

“She also introduced an array of A-lines dresses in various different colours, decorative hats for formal events and closed-toe shoes.

“Stockings also became a ‘must’ every time she wore an outfit that bared her legs.”

Sleep in hot weather: How to sleep in a heatwave – 4 simple tips

Parts of the UK are set to be hotter than both Marbella and Ibiza this week. Hot days are a real morale booster during this difficult time, but no one likes a hot night when you’re trying to get some shut-eye.

Express.co.uk spoke to the experts to find out how to stay cool at night.

From bed sheets to hot water bottles, we’ve found out all the top tricks.

Read on to find out what they are.

How to sleep during a heatwave

Choose the right mattress

Jonathan Warren, director at bed specialist Time4Sleep said: “There are a number of mattress options available that can help you to regulate your body’s temperature.

“Generally speaking, a mattress with a high content of natural fillings such as wool, cotton or bamboo is often a great choice for those struggling to sleep in the heat as they tend to be cooler as well as being naturally hypoallergenic.”

He added: “Other options to consider are new generation elite gel memory foam mattresses that include intelligent temperature regulating technology to help keep you cool in the summer and warm during winter.

“These mattresses include a temperature regulating cool gel that adjusts with your body temperature to ensure you’re never too hot or cold during the night, resulting in a truly refreshing night’s sleep.”

Pick breathable sheets

It’s time to ditch your thick winter bedding and opt for something lighter.

Lucy Ackroyd, Head of Design at Christy England explained: “Pure cotton sheets have sensory benefits and are naturally breathable so they help to regulate your temperature and moisture levels while you sleep, stopping the clammy feeling you can experience with synthetic fibres.

“Secondly, high thread count fabrics are smoother against the skin so as well as being much more comfortable you are less likely to feel tangled up or trapped by rougher fabrics that cling, especially to nightwear.

“Try Percale as opposed to Sateen sheets, as they’re made with a looser weave and are therefore more breathable.”

She added: “You should also make sure you have the right duvet for the hotter months.

“For summer, a lighter tog of 4.5 is perfect, if you like something a little heavier but still breathable – try a 10.5 tog.”

Choose the right window treatment

Blinds and shutters aren’t just used for keeping the light out, they can be used to effectively control the temperature in your home and this is especially useful in the bedroom.

Jason Peterkin, director at 247 Blinds said: “You’ll first need to consider factors such as which direction your window faces; a south-facing room will benefit from thicker, thermal materials to help keep it cool.

“Privacy is also an important factor to acknowledge. Adjustable blinds such as shutters, Venetians and day nights are great in the bedroom as they can allow light in without compromising privacy.

“Wooden Venetian blinds or plantation shutters are great for keeping the temperature down in the home as they allow you to adjust the amount of light filtering into the room by altering the size of the gap between the slats.

“The wood also acts as a natural heat conductor, helping to keep the warm air out during the summer months.”

He said: “To completely block out the sunlight, opt for blackout blinds. The thick fabric is not only great for keeping the temperature down, it’ll help you get a better night’s sleep during the brighter months and lighter mornings.”

Use a hot water bottle

Your hot water bottle can be used throughout summer to cool down your bed.

Fill it up with water and freeze it for a few hours before bedtime.

You could use more than one to really spread the effect across the bed.

This little hack may prove useful in helping you to fall asleep much more quickly.

Kate Middleton shows she’s not ‘hidebound’ by breaking royal rule with George & Charlotte

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, married Prince William in 2011. The senior royal has followed many family traditions over the years. However, an expert explained why she has broken one of these with her children.

  • Kate Middleton and Prince William make major Instagram move

As a working member of the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will regularly carry out official duties.

Since the coronavirus lockdown began in the UK, Kate and Prince William have both continued to connect with the public with virtual appearances.

Kate and Prince William have three children together, Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five and Prince Louis, two.

The children are not often seen out in public, which could be down to their young ages.

With schools temporarily closed, Kate has revealed she is homeschooling Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Before this, both children attended Thomas’s School, a private school which is based in Battersea.

While Kate and Prince William have followed lots of family traditions, they seemingly made an exception by choosing that school.

The couple decided against doing what had been done before, according to education expert Murray Morrison.

He told Express.co.uk: “Princes William and Harry attended Wetherby Prep as children, and this remains an excellent school and would likely have been in the running.

“However, the Cambridges’ chose St Thomas’s Battersea for their children.

“There are a range of other schools that the Royal Family have chosen over recent generations and doubtless the choice has come down to which school offered the best fit for their child.”

This could have been done as the couple focused more on what was best for their children rather than tradition.

  • Kate Middleton wears £550 new dress with an incredible message

“The choice suggests to me that they are a family like any other,” Murray continued. “Choosing what they felt to be the best option for their children rather than simply doing what their parents did.

“Of course they are fortunate to be able to afford private school fees, which is not an option for many, but they have made their choice by judging which school would be the best environment for their child.”

By doing this, Kate and Prince William showed they are happy to skip on some royal traditions.

The expert explained: “This suggests that the Royal Family continues to evolve – that they are not hidebound and simply repeating choices handed down over generations.

“They will undoubtedly have strong experiences of their own schooling which will have influenced their decisions.

“Each school has a distinct culture, whether that’s an emphasis on character, academic performance, sport, creativity or other areas of education.

“As a parent, if you found your education coloured, positively or negatively, by these aspects of your own school, that’s likely to be the strongest factor in your choices for your own children.”

Iceland recall: Urgent food recall issued on item sold in this supermarket

Young’s Seafood is urging customers not to eat one of its products because of a potential allergen. The Simply Breaded 2 Extra Large Fish Fillets have been recalled because they contain milk which isn’t included on the labelling. The fish product is sold in Iceland supermarkets.

Which product is affected?

The product that has been recalled is the Young’s Simply Breaded 2 Extra Large Fish Fillets.

The pack size is 300g, with specifically the larger size fillets being recalled over safety fears.

The items affected by the recall have the batch codes AC L 0097, AB L0114, and AB L 0116.

The affected fish packs have an expiry date of October 2021.

The fish fillets contain milk in the recipe, but they’re now being recalled as this isn’t made clear in the label.

Milk is an allergen which has to be declared on packaging for customers who may need to avoid it.

The company issued the recall advice on May 18 with a statement warning shoppers that they may be affected.

The company said: “The product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

As well as warning its customers, Young’s Seafood has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall to help spread the message.

Customers can arrange a refund for the fish fillets by getting in touch directly with Young’s Seafood on their care line, by calling 0800 496 8647 or emailing [email protected]

The recall does not affect any other Young’s Seafood products.

The fish fillets are sold in various sizes and pack sizes in many of the main supermarkets, but it’s the Extra Large 300g pack that’s being recalled by Iceland.

The seafood company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers to warn them about the affected products.

The notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and explains what to do if they have previously bought the product from Iceland.

The notice reads: “We apologise to retailers and our customers for any inconvenience caused by this recall.

“The safety and quality of our products is highly important to us and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.”

Milk allergies and intolerances can vary in severity and can affect the digestive system as well as the skin and breathing.

Affected customers might be lactose intolerant, or allergic to milk or dairy products.

The product is otherwise safe for those who do not have any allergies or intolerance to milk or the other ingredients that appear on the label.

Food recalls are issued when there is a risk to customers due to allergy labelling being missing or incorrect, and are shared by the Food Standards Agency in an Allergy Alert.
