Young couple, 23, transform dated 1930s bungalow into their dream first home

A young couple who bought their first home together shared the incredible DIY transformation as it went from a depressed and dated bungalow to a snazzy starter home.

In a video of the home makeover, uploaded on TikTok by user @k4te_1, she shows how the home they bought in February this year is slowly brought into the current decade.

Kate and Paul, both aged 23, say they bought the 1930s bungalow after saving up since they were 18 and taking out a mortgage.

The couple, who also show the progress on their Instagram page, start the renovation by cutting down the overgrown garden which has invaded the patio after years of neglect.

In April, they stripped the inside which had musty old carpets and patterned wallpaper.

The entire bathroom was ripped out and re-tiled in modern and neutral sand-coloured tones.

By August, it was time for Kate and her boyfriend to roll up their sleeves and start painting the re-plastered walls in white.

The finishing touches were put together in September – with the bungalow totally unrecognisable.

"It’s nice to see that this year isn’t that bad for some people all the best for you guys," commented one.

A second wrote: "Y’all talking about the same 2020 right?"

In her first post on Instagram, Kate says: "We were told that the previous owner loved the bungalow very much and we can see why.

"We already feel so attached and excited to make it our home."
