Venture Bros., Aqua Teen Hunger Force And Metalocalypse Movies Planned At Adult Swim

Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake are getting a new look from Hollywood.

WarnerMedia’s Adult Swim plans to turn three of its most venerable properties into films that will debut first in a 90-day window via video-on-demand and Blu-ray and DVD before debuting on the streaming-video hub HBO Max and the outlet’s namesake cable outlet.  ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” “Metalocalypse” and “The Venture Bros.” are three of the network’s best-known series.

“Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, in a prepared statement.

Each of the programs was among the first original productions to run on Adult Swim, which first came to prominence as a late-night programming block on Cartoon Network that featured  collections of uncensored, uncut cartoons in programs like “ToonHeads” or “The Tex Avery Show.”

“Aqua Teen Hunger Force” launched in September, 2001, and also served as the focus for the network’s first theatrical release in 2007. The surreal series centers on the adventures of three anthropomorphic fast-food entities. “Metalocalypse” debuted in 2003 and chronicled the life of a death-metal band, Dethklok.  A pilot for “The Venture Bros.” premiered  in 2003, with the first season airing in August 2004. The series aired seven seasons and four specials over a nearly 15 year run and was one of Adult Swim’s longest running series.

The new “Metalocalypse” movie  is created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha and its soundtrack will be released on WaterTower Music.  “The Venture Bros.” is created, written and executive produced by Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer. “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” is created by Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis.

After being canceled in September of 2020, “The Venture Bros.” series will return. And Adult Swim (who promised a return of this cult favorite) has released this perfectly vague plot description for their original film. “Doc’s latest invention will either bankrupt the Ventures or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them.”
