Ajax boss Erik ten Hag confirmed there were "developments" over his future after United stepped up their chase.
And those developments are appearing to move quickly with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eager to get the deal over the line.
According to Sport, Van de Beek has already revealed he will fly to England next week to finalise his transfer.
Solskjaer wants more options in midfield and is eyeing a trio of Paul Pogba, Van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes.
