Tom Hanks continues to prove that we don't deserve his singular brand of purity and goodness. According to NBC News, Hanks sent a Corona-brand typewriter and a letter to a boy getting bullied for his name, Corona. The lucky kid is Corona De Vries, an 8-year-old resident of the Gold Coast. When he found out that Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, were quarantined in Australia while they recovered from their battles with COVID-19, he sent them a letter, asking them how they were doing and letting them know that kids at his school were calling him coronavirus, a not-so-clever spin on his name.

"I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the coronavirus," Corona wrote, Australia's Channel 7 News reports. "Are you OK?" He added that the nickname he was given made him "sad and angry."

In true Hanks fashion, he replied via his typewriter (he loves them so much that he's written a book about them), saying, "Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful!"

He went on to tell Corona that his name was unique, writing, "You know, you are the only person I've ever known to have the name Corona — like the ring around the sun, a crown," and finished, "I thought this typewriter would suit you. Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back."

If that sentiment wasn't enough to get a kid to smile, Hanks added a handwritten note to the end of his letter: "P.S. You got a friend in ME."
