In a year with very few social gatherings, it was actually refreshingly nice to see A-listers flock together (some virtually) for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.

Maybe we’ve just been starved of glamour for a little too long but this year’s style and beauty looks seemed more glitzy and more gorgeous than ever – and taking the crown for most striking of the night is Anya Taylor-Joy.

You might not recognise her real name but fans of Netflix’s smash-hit The Queen’s Gambit will definitely know her as Beth Harmon, chess champion and micro-fringe pioneer.

We got so used to seeing Anya with a short, ginger bob and fringe that we completely forgot to think about whether it was actually a look she has in real life. The answer to that question is no, she looks completely different to her on-screen character.

Anya appeared at Monday’s award show with incredibly long and sleek white blonde hair, and a very Grace Kelly-esque beauty look. In fact, she looked so different that it took us a few minutes of looking for us to really recognise who it was.

Anya posted details of her beauty and fashion look on her Instagram page, where fans were keen to tell her she was their stand-out of the night.

“Hands down, best dressed. Gorgeous!” said Lucy Hale, star of Pretty Little Liars.

A fair few others likened Anya’s look to Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter films, who had white blonde hair and dressed in Slytherin’s house emerald colour.

“If Draco Malfoy was a girl,” said one, while another commented: “Real life Draco Malfoy”.

Fans are clearly referencing Anya's incredible green ensemble, which is a Dior Couture green lurex draped dress with matching belt and evening coat, custom designed byMaria Grazia Chiuri .

“Green for Beth, green for Emma, green for me,” Anya wrote in her Instagram post, thanking Dior for creating her jaw-dropping awards style.

Checkmate to Anya for this look, we say.
