Spoilers: John Barrowman debuts in Holby City as Cameron causes chaos

There’s a guest appearance from John Barrowman in tonight’s Holby City, as he plays slick surgeon Drew Nicholson-Heath, who swoops into Holby with a reputation for stealing the best surgical talent for fancy jobs abroad. But which surgeon will catch his eye?

Cameron (Nic Jackman) is determined that he’ll be the one to impress Drew and thinks he has his chance when he makes a rare diagnosis. The problem is that Nicky (Belinda Owusu) disagrees with him – but which of them will be proved right?

When things don’t seem to be going Cameron’s way, he finds a way to make himself look good at Nicky’s expense with more shocking behaviour – but will Drew realise what Cameron is up to?

There’s some history between Ange (Dawn Steele) and Drew – should Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) be worried that her old flame has returned?

Essie (Kaye Wragg) is putting her life in order as she faces up to the fact that she probably doesn’t have long to live. One of the most important things to her is ensuring that baby Isla is properly cared for after she’s gone – and that means reuniting her with her mother Frankie (Sophie Harkness).

Sacha (Bob Barrett) is finding the idea of losing Essie unbearable and feels that she’s giving up on life too easily – so he resorts to some very untypical manipulative behaviour to try to give Essie a reason to keep going.

Kian (Ramin Karimloo) is currently living with Jac (Rosie Marcel) as he recovers from his latest injuries, and he decides to impress her by looking after Emma (Darcey Burke) for the day. But what about those pills he’s secretly addicted to?

When a bride-to-be has an accident on her hen night and ends up in AAU it’s not long before the charming Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) catches her eye. But what begins as a bit of mild flirtation ends with terrible consequences for Ric.

Sue Haasler is the author of five novels and the official BBC Holby City book, which you can read about here.
