Sergio Aguero pictured in hospital bed after emergency knee surgery as Man City star thanks fans for support

SERGIO AGUERO has shared a picture from his hospital bed following emergency surgery on his knee, before thanking fans for their support.

The Manchester City legend, 32, hobbled out of the 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday night, with boss Pep Guardiola fearing the worst.

Aguero jetted off to Barcelona to see Dr Ramon Cugat – dubbed "the Lionel Messi of medicine" – and immediately went under the knife.

And he reassured his fans that he was OK, as he grinned in a picture shared to Twitter.

Aguero captioned the tweet: "Everything went well, and I'll soon begin recovery.

"A big thanks to Dr Cugat and his team – and to all of you for your support."
