Salaries revealed: How much money you can make as a real estate agent

Despite often performing the same duties, not all real estate agents get paid the same. 

Largely impacted by the quality and quantity of their listings, as well as the amount of commissions they generate, an agent's paycheck is often largely determined by property location and price tag. 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' 2019 Occupational Employment Statistics data, the average annual salary for real estate agents nationwide is $62,060.

And while the median annual agent wage sits at $48,930, there are significant differences in pay across the board, as workers in the top 10% of agents earn $111,800 annually, while those in the lowest-earning 10% of agents make about $24,930 a year. 

Agents in the 25th percentile earned an average annual salary of $33,600, and agents in the 75th percentile earned $75,340.
