Princess Anne has been a working royal for most of her life meaning she will often appear at events with royals including Prince Charles.

Although they are often spotted together, body language expert Judi James explained why the pair may not have the closest relationship.

She told Express.co.uk: “Charles grew up sandwiched between two remarkable women.

“Both his mother and his sister are hard-working, strong and stoic, with no outward signs of emotions like anxiety or self-doubt.

“Charles on the other hand has always shown signals that suggest self-pity and inner anguish.”

Analysing pictures of the pair over the years, Judi revealed they have not always had the closest relationship.

The two royal siblings appeared to have different attitudes towards royal life which may have made their relationship strained.

Judi added: “Growing up he and Anne perfectly defined the chalk-and-cheese sibling relationship, with Charles suffering through his school years while Anne just got on with things.

“As Charles adopted a more academic approach to the life of a future King, Anne became a successful, no-nonsense sportswoman alongside her regular royal duties.”

Despite their difference, recent pictures could show that their bond is starting to grow.

While the Queen has dealt with different royal dramas over the last year, Princess Anne and her brother may have pulled together to support the monarch.

“There were very little if any relationship-defining poses of the pair over the years, although recently there have been clues that suggest they might have been becoming closer,” Judi explained.

  • Why Zara is so different to mother Princess Anne

“This might have been prompted by need, thanks to the battering that Megxit and Andrew’s dramas have brought to the royal firm and the gaps they have created in the line-up.”

Prince Charles is also thought to have a close relationship with Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall.

This relationship could have helped bring the siblings closer together.

Judi said: “Anne and Charles will probably never be the closest brother and sister.

“However, they are beginning to look as though shared goals in terms of their love and sense of duty to their mother and a desire to sustain the image of the royal firm have brought them closer together.

“Also, the obvious affection that Anne’s daughter Zara seems to have for her uncle Charles.”

While the two royals are very different, the expert suggested they have been getting closer over the years.
