Palm* Studios Showcases Five Years of Portraits in New Book

London-based publisher Palm* Studios has announced its latest book, showcasing five years of portraits by photographers Lola Paprocka and Pani Paul. Titled Lola & Pani Studio Portraits 2015-2020, the hardcover bookfeatures 116 pages of portraits that have been co-curated by i-D Editor-in-Chief Alastair McKimm who also appears in conversation with the two photograhers.

Additionally, Lola & Pani Studio Portraits 2015-2020 also features an introduction by writer and curator David Campany. In his introduction, Campany discusses why the portrait is such an important medium, “It appeals to that deep desire to gather and collect, to organise and take stock, to assert some kind of order upon a world forever slipping into the past, or into disorder. That is the slightly cold-hearted motivation, but the portrait survey can also be an occasion for much warmer things: empathy, exchange, collaboration, even community.”

Campany also goes on to discuss Lola and Pani’s work in the book more specifically, adding how the photographers have captured, “a creative scene in all its emergent and fragile energy,” made up of friends, fashion people, music people, artists and skateboarders.

Lola & Pani Studio Portraits 2015-2020 is available now from the Palm* Studios web store now.
